After graduating from Texas Christian University with a B.A. in Philosophy, Jack attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he received a Th.M. and Th.D. Jack was a professor in the Department of Old Testament Exegesis and Semitic Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary from 1976 - 1988. During that time, he helped to start and pastor two churches.
From September 1988 until April 1992, Jack served as an Associate Pastor at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Anaheim, California. From 1994 -1996, Jack pastored the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish, Montana. He has also served as Dean of the Wagner Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he served as core faculty providing proactive teaching in classroom courses on Power Ministries, Old Testament, and Biblical Languages.
Jack is currently the senior pastor of Wellspring Church in Ft. Worth, Texas, a church he started in the spring of 2004. The mission of the church is threefold: to help people cultivate an intimate friendship with Jesus; to help people discover and effectively use their spiritual gifts in significant ways in the church; and having learned how to use these gifts effectively in the church, then to use their gifts in the market place where they spend the majority of their time.
Jack's newest book, The Beginner's Guide to the Gift of Prophecy, is a wise, balanced, very readable and practical book that is full of common sense, healthy warnings and correctives, encouragements, and illustrations on the subject of prophecy. Jack's other two books, Surprised by the Power of the Spirit and Surprised by the Voice of God, are international best sellers and have been translated into many different languages.
Jack's pastoral experience coupled with his seminary experience gives him great wisdom and insight for church ministry. Currently, Jack and his wife, Leesa, live in Colleyville, Texas.
