Paul Michalski serves on the National leadership team of the New Canaan Society and has led its founding chapter in Connecticut since 2007.
Paul was born in a small town in Upstate New York and graduated
from Harvard College, magna cum laude, in 1983 and Harvard Law School, magna
cum laude, in 1986. He was an attorney in the corporate department of
Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, a New York City-based law firm, for over 22
years, joining Cravath in 1986 and becoming a partner in 1994. From 1996
through 2000, Paul was resident in the firm's London office. He took a
leave of absence in October 2008 to help one of the firm’s pro bono clients,
the New Canaan Society, Inc., in its transition from a regional to a
national organization and decided to leave Cravath in July 2009 to pursue
other interests.
Paul’s legal experience was broad-based, encompassing
corporate finance transactions (including bank financings and public and
private debt and equity issuances), mergers and acquisitions, restructurings
and joint ventures. He was also involved in advising on corporate governance
and securities law reform. Among other honors, Paul was recognized in
Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in 2006 and 2007;
Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers in 2008 and 2009; and New York
Super Lawyers in 2007 and 2008. He also served on the Advisory Board for
the Capital Markets Law Journal and as a Vice-Chair of the ABA Committee on
International Securities and Capital Markets.
In addition to providing strategic and transactional business advice through
a consulting practice called Third River Consulting, he serves as a Director and as President of the Benjamin Franklin House Foundation, as an Accelerator Mentor with Praxis Labs, on the Board of
Directors of the New York Law Institute, on the Board of Directors of the
Camelot Faith and Leadership Institute and as Chair of the Young Life Committee in Darien, CT.
He lives in Darien, CT with his wife. Lisa. and two children, James and
Annie. Paul tries daily to "show up", be "faithfully present", love Lisa and the kids, and listen--and some days he almost succeeds. |
